At St. John's C. of E. Primary School, Abram, as part of QUEST Trust, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our curriculum is enriched through a carefully planned programme of educational visits, residential experiences and enrichment opportunities that bring learning to life and provide children with memorable experiences that build confidence, independence and resilience.
Our enrichment programme is planned termly and reviewed regularly, including through pupil voice and our Young Leadership Teams, ensuring that experiences are purposeful, inclusive and responsive to the interests and needs of our children.
We are particularly proud of our longstanding programme of residential experiences from Year 5 to Year 6, providing children with opportunities to develop independence, teamwork and problem-solving skills while creating lasting memories with their friends.
Experiences include den building, campfires, raft and water experiences and orienteering, alongside a wide range of purposeful educational day visits that complement and enhance learning across the curriculum.
These include seaside visits, theatre trips, animal experiences, museum visits and opportunities to explore the wider community and world around us.
Through these experiences, we aim to develop the whole child. Nurturing curiosity, confidence, resilience, independence and a sense of belonging, while providing every pupil with the cultural capital and life experiences they need to thrive.
Our enrichment offer is an important part of our commitment to ensuring that every child has broad, meaningful experiences that prepare them for life beyond school — from early years to employment.
